Every year, more or less around the winter solstice, a Vortex gathering takes place. The destination is a forest, on a secluded farm, in the shadow of the picturesque Riviersonderend mountains.

The gathering, known as the Phoenix Festival of Fire, is a celebration of the change of season, a winter festival complete with bonfires and fire-dancers – but not forgetting the giant dancefloor in which to revel through dance and movement. Guests are encouraged to set up camp for the weekend in this serene space, which is a short distance beyond the town of Riviersonderend.

A full weekend of fun and laughs, dancing and socialising, the Phoenix Festival of Fire encourages the spirit of togetherness in a safe environment. On the decks will be a back-to-back lineup of psytrance DJ’s who will be spinning beats to get the crowd moving well into the wee hours. Stalls will be offering a variety of fresh meals and hot and cold beverages.
