Locals who have been holding their breath in anticipation for the Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal match right here in Cape Town will finally get their chance to purchase tickets this week. As of 9am on Wednesday morning September 4, 2019, tickets will officially go on sale.
Prices will range from R150 to R1 950 for seats closer to the court and a limit of six tickets per person will apply.
The famed match will take place on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Cape Town Stadium, and aims to raise funds for the Roger Federer Foundation which spearheads educational programs in Africa.
As part of the festivities on the day, those who do manage to snatch up their tickets will get the chance to see these iconic rivals battle it out, as well as Microsoft founder Bill Gates and famous South Africa comedian Trevor Noah take to the court.
“This Match in Africa is a dream come true. I will play in my mother’s home country against my toughest rival and friend Rafa Nadal,” said Federer.
“Roger and I have shared so many magical moments on and off the court. Travelling with him to Cape Town and playing for the benefit of children is something I am very excited about. It will be my first time in the region with Roger as a tour guide – that will be fun,” said Nadal.
There are also rumours circulating of another celebrity match but the participants have not yet been made public.
Various VIP packages, business lounge options and private viewing suites are also available for the big day.
