The City of Cape Town has confirmed that a fire has broken out in Camps Bay, and traffic is being diverted from Kloofnek Road as a result.
According to Jermaine Carelse, City of Cape Town spokesperson, Table Mountain National Park, City Fire Service and a set of seasonal firefighters are on scene.
Vegetation above Camps Bay High School is reportedly alight and Kloof Road has been closed between Kloofnek and Lower Kloof Road while firefighters tend to the blaze.
Residents in the area have reported seeing huge volumes of smoke as efforts to contain the fire continue.

Cape Town is in the heat of fire season, as several blazes have raged across the city in recent days.
On Thursday, January 16, four formal dwellings and four informal structures were destroyed by a fire in Delft. “We currently have six firefighting appliances on scene. No injuries have been reported at this stage,” Carelse said.
On Wednesday, January 15, 49 structures were destroyed and 124 people were affected in Solly’s Town, Strand. 96 structures have been destroyed and 226 people have been affected in New Village.
