People across the country working from home during the coronavirus lockdown are affected as Google South Africa is experiencing technical issues, causing various applications including Gmail, Google Docs, Hangouts and Maps to be inaccessible.

“Our engineers have observed an intermittent issue accessing various Google apps including Gmail, Google Maps, etc. The issue is 3rd party (Google) related and is affecting various ISP’s in South Africa. Further updates to follow,” RSAWEB said on Twitter.

It is unsure, however, what exactly the problem is.

The issue has been reported to the Google Network Operations Centre and they are investigating, according to MyBroadband. Internet Service Providers will be updated as they figure out the issue.
