The vaccination rollout plan is still underway with the Health Department recently has announced that South Africans aged 35 years and older are next in line to receive the COVID-19 jab, reports ENCA.
Despite the violent protests currently taking place across the nation, registration for vaccination will take place July 15, while the vaccinations will commence on August 1.
“The national vaccination programme continues across the country despite violent protests which resulted in temporary closure of some vaccination sites in some provinces including Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal,” said department of health national spokesperson Popo Maja.
“People aged 35 years and above are advised to register on the electronic vaccination data system in numbers to be eligible to be vaccinated beginning of next month.”
Maja urged “tech-savvy” individuals to utilise the various online methods currently being offered when registering for the vaccine. This is includes heading to the following website: vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za
Other methods include a WhatsApp line and Call Centre:
- the Covid-19 Call Centre on 0800 029 999,
- WhatsApp 0600 123 56 and Dial *134*832#
According to IOL, these methods are aimed at alleviating congestion and long waiting queues at vaccination sites. Maja reiterated that individuals aged 50 years and older could walk into vaccination sites without an appointment to vaccinate.
