Cape Town is villa central, offering countless uber-luxurious properties that will leave you needing to pick your jaw up from the floor. But with some villas costing around R150 000 per night, dreams of sipping champagne in your silk PJs and watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta are sadly confined to your dreams.
Well, not anymore! We’ve scoured the internet in search of a few semi-affordable villas that won’t leave you eating bread and milk for the next few months. Here are three of our picks:
Bush Lodge – Hidden Valley Wines, Stellenbosch
“Escape” is the keyword when describing Hidden Valley Wines’ Bush Lodge. It’s a luxurious retreat away from the city that’s nestled amongst endless vineyards and lush greenery. Perched against the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, views and endless tranquillity is the name of the game, with guests being treated to some spectacular sunsets as they relax on the deck and slowly watch the sun dip behind the rolling hills.
The lodge has a cabin-like feel that blends in with its natural surroundings, but this is far from your average cabin. Bush Lodge offers all the luxurious amenities you could dream of, including a swimming pool, log cabin fireplace (for those chilly nights), and a gas braai.
Price: Depending on the season, prices start at R4500 per night
Villa Misty Cliffs – Misty Cliffs
Grab a piping hot cup of coffee, sit on the spacious deck and watch as the morning mist rolls over the ocean. This gorgeous villa is located just outside the seaside town neighbourhood of Scarborough and is only a few metres from the Atlantic Ocean. Take a refreshing dip in the ocean waters or have a relaxing swim in the glistening pool before enjoying your delicious dinner while watching the sunset beyond the horizon.
The three bedrooms are perfect for a weekend getaway with friends or family, with the villa offering all the necessary amenities and more, including a fireplace and jacuzzi.
Price: R4500, but prices are season dependent.
The Black Barn – Danger Point, Gansbaai
There’s nothing quite like a weekend away to a remote fishing village in the Western Cape, and if you’re willing to go for a quick two-hour drive, then The Black Barn in Gansbaai offers the perfect blend between luxury and nature. Nestled between a sea of fynbos, with access to an exclusive beach located around 400 metres away, guests can take a stroll to the beach where they might come across a few bokkies and zebras who freely roam this landscape before easing their muscles in the Kol Kol hot tub.
High-vaulted ceilings and an open-plan design offer guests plenty of space to relax and enjoy the modern interior and decor or step outside and enjoy the spacious courtyard where you can dabble in the art of “braaing.”
Price: R4000 per night
