Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial is set to resume on August 10 after he requested to have the case postponed because of the pandemic and the recent unrest, as AFP reports.
The former president’s request was granted by the Pietermaritzburg High Court, who adjourned proceedings for three weeks.
“The trial is adjourned to 10 to 13 August,” Judge Piet Koen said a day after Zuma appeared in court virtually from the Estcourt Correctional Centre.
According to Reuters, Zuma pleaded not guilty in May to charges of fraud, graft and racketeering related to the 1999 purchase of arms from five European arms firms when he was deputy president.
