Cyril Ramaphosa is set to address the nation tonight (as IOL confers), and all eyes will be glued to the TV that has become our connection to his leadership.
Let’s not beat around the bush, South Africa is awaiting numerous answers, or at the very least plans of action in a more concrete and conditioned manner. Our topics range from how our current level four restrictions may ease or intensify amidst the third wave of COVID-19, to how the social unrest has complicated these matters.
People speculated that after acting Minister of Health, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane expressed that there was a “significant drop in infections” restrictions might be eased as per IOL. However, she has also noted that the infections “fluctuate in waves,” and that “just because the numbers are coming down, does not mean the virus has stopped spreading..this means that our fight should rather intensify.”
Additionally, the riots have played a hand in more losses than the burnt businesses, bloodshed and safety of South Africans.
“At the height of the unrest, there were disruptions in all areas of the health service delivery system,” as Kubayi-Ngubane notes in light of the riots contributing to the complexity of the fight against COVID-19.
Speculations aside, all will be soon revealed, times to be confirmed.
