If you’re looking to jazz up your Saturday, then we’ve got you covered! Spending time in the great outdoors can be really therapeutic – a great way to release tension, ease your mind and set the tone for an amazing year ahead.
Even though life can get really busy between work, family life and everything else that comes with it, don’t forget to put time aside for a relaxing stroll to unwind and recharge. According to healthline, walking can help to burn calories, strengthen your heart, improve your mood and encourage creative thinking.
And the best part is that it’s free! You can choose to walk around your neighbourhood during times when it’s safe to do so, but if you have some extra fuel in the tank to spare, then here are five awesome spots to drive out to for a chilled walk.
Newlands Forest Contour Path
The lush, tranquil aura that Newlands Forest brings is like music to our soul. Take a stroll or enjoy a trail run (that’ll have you feeling sweaty and energised in no time). Even though this walk is quite long, you’ll be so distracted by the amazing views that the distance won’t even matter!
Cecilia Forest
Cecilia Waterfall via Cecilia Forest is a 4.3 kilometre heavily trafficked loop trail, home to trickling streams, lush trees, and a waterfall which is the picturesque highlight of the experience. Trek along this route, which is used mainly for running, and walking. But keep an eye out for a few wagging tails along this spectacular journey.

Alphen Trail
The Alphen Trail is possibly one of the most popular of the green belt walks of the Constantia Valley. The picturesque trail winds along the Diep River to the Constantiaberg Mountain and in places allows one to walk on either side of the river, with a number of bridge crossings.
It’s a beautiful walk filled with lush grass, trees, and beautiful skies, and people usually take their dogs and families on walks here.

Adderley Street Company’s Gardens
Situated right in the heart of Cape Town, this majestic gem is an amazing place to walk around, relax and even entertain the kids. The garden has a rich cultural and historical heritage.
There’s just something serene about being surrounded by trees and nature, offering an escape from your busy, everyday life (cute squirrels included!)
Muizenberg to St James
Even though this walk is enjoyed by many, we often don’t have the time to make the trip a reality! This stunning paved shoreline walk will have you wanting to return every weekend!
But don’t feel the need to rush through it. Take some time to soak in the gorgeous views and if your stomach starts complaining, then you can quickly head into one of the eateries and coffee shops in the surrounds.
