Maybe you can’t go to space anytime soon (unless you’re Jeff Bezos) but if you’re fortunate and adventurous enough, you might be able to get pretty close thanks to Disney’s highly anticipated Space 220 restaurant at Epcot.
Now, we know travel seems to be a matter of dreams right now, but if you are going to dream big, you might as well wish upon a star and dream Disney.
Launching as part of the Mission: SPACE attraction in Disney World’s Epcot, Florida, theme park explorers will be able blast off to a dining experience quite literally fit for the stars.

Epcot is all about enlightening exploration. The foundations of the Disney owned sub-park are thrill-centric and innovative in the most exciting ways. Given this reputation, there are some pretty high expectations when it comes to any Disney-based launch.
While the spaced-out restaurant is set to have its grand opening in mid-September, sources are revealing some starry eyed looks into what the vibe of the restaurant is going to entail.
Dubbed Space 220, the restaurant is titled accordingly as a result of being 220 miles off Earth.
A journey to the restaurant might go something like this, according to Imagineer Zach Riddley’s preview.
First, a stellar elevator journey.
The journey begins at the PACE 220 departure Lounge in Future world, as per Hypebeast.
The first leg of your mission will see you on an elevator journey 220 miles up into the air “via signature Disney magic”. That’s roughly 354.05 kms.
“This space elevator experience is our generation’s entry into this rich legacy of inspiration that will define the future of EPCOT and a perfect addition to World Discovery!” Riddley expresses.
A screen below your feet will showcase your fantastical journey as the theme park shrinks and the stars get closer.
You’ll go so far out that you’ll see the ‘Earth’ below.
Now you’ve reached the Centaur Space Station.
The actual restaurant is something that would aptly fit a modern sci-fi film.
The finishings are purple and ooze with the feel that you’re in a galaxy not so far away, not to mention you’ll be surrounded by a series of windows where you can see astronauts doing their daily chores casually, amongst their co-workers the planets and stars of course.
If you’re looking to add a space ranger envisioned cuisine experience, and are writing a Disney trip into your own stars for the future, Space 220 is a must.
The opening will be in mid-September, sailing in weeks before “The World’s Most Magical Celebration, aka the resort’s 50th birthday on October 1.
