Grab your boots, koeksisters, and some water because on November 17, it’s National Take a Hike Day and Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMACC) will be hosting a mountain clean-up to celebrate!
Take A Hike Day was created to remind the public about how fortunate we are to have the beauty of nature around us, and to take care of it!
Everyone is invited to spend the day on the trails of Table Mountain and enjoy breathtaking views of the Mother City below while collecting rubbish that has been left behind by less considerate visitors.
“We are dedicated to ensure that we protect the environment limiting any damage to flora and fauna,” says Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC.
The mountain clean-up is set to take place from 7am to 3pm and will begin at Platteklip Gorge hiking trails towards the top of Table Mountain.
The first 300 hikers to arrive on the day will receive a snack pack that includes a 10% discount coupon from Cape Union Mart who will also be taking part in this years’ clean up.
The first 300 hikers down the mountain will also be treated to a R10 coffee voucher from Vida e Caffè. Everyone who joined in on the clean-up will be issued a free cableway ticket down. Now, that’s awesome!
All participants have been encouraged to start their hike as early as possible to avoid the mid-day sun, and to catch the last ride down, which is set to depart at 5pm.
