If you are intrigued by ghosts and all things haunted and spooky, then you’ll be shedding a tear or two after it was announced that the famous nationwide Mystery Ghost Bus Tours of South Africa may close down after 21 years. This means that this might be the last-ever tour for Cape Town, which is set to take place on December 18.
The bus is no longer used since COVID-19, and for the past two years, the tours have been run as “Jaunts”, which means you use your own car in convoy like a fun mystery car rally, and get out at all the major stops, where your ghostly host takes over.
Bring a picnic basket filled with goodies to eat and drink along the way, making for an exciting festive season outing. Some of the highlights of the tour include the German Lutheran Church, the Little and Arena theatres, Bo-Kaap spectres, the Castle of Good Hope, old District Six, the famous Poltergeist House of Cape Town, the very haunted Hiddingh House, and SACS’ school ghosts.
The tour then proceeds to Tokai Manor which boasts South Africa’s most famous Replay Ghost of a horse and rider who tumble down the manor house’s stairs to a bone-cracking death. The tour then leaves this eerie forested area and finally winds up at the cemetery with a thrilling visual climax.
Apart from the intriguing history of the paranormal and the various haunted sites, the science of the paranormal is also presented along with demonstrations where guests get to use dowsing rods, plus ghost hunting apps on their cellphones. A clever scare or two is in store, and one can have a drink to calm your nerves.
Tours end long before curfew. All details, price, ages, times, starting point and bookings can be found on the website at www.MysteryGhostProductions.co.za. Bring family, friends, staff, clients, guests who will be ready for a journey they’ll never forget!
