As we look back on this turbulent year, we can’t help but think of all the loved ones – near and far – we have had to prematurely say goodbye to. For many, the celebration of Christmas was another stark reminder of this.
The Duchess of Cambridge put her piano skills to good use and performed ‘For Those Who Can’t Be Here’ at Westminster Abbey for Royal Carols: Together At Christmas alongside Tom Walker.
The tear-jerking piece features a melancholic piano that is accompanied by Walker’s powerful voice and speaks to the heart of the matter – remembering all those that we have lost during the pandemic.
The heartwarming performance took place in The Chapter House inside Westminster Abbey with the song being played as part of the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas. This unique carol service highlighted the hardship people around the world have faced the last 18 months, especially those who could not celebrate the festive season with loved ones as they are currently in isolation.
This was a beautiful message of solidarity – you are not alone – with the song beautifully reflecting that.
““Together At Christmas” was a moment to recognise those who have struggled during the pandemic, as well as to celebrate the individuals and organisations who carried out inspirational acts of kindness and incredible feats to help those in need in our communities.”
