Members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team were busy with crime prevention duties when they stopped and searched a premises at A Block, Langa after smelling dagga coming from inside the dwelling.
According to SAPS, the members searched the premises and found a 9mm pistol with a serial number filled off with ammunition, an undisclosed amount of drugs, liquor and money. The 14 suspects were arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, dealing in drugs and liquor.
Once charged the suspects will make their court appearance in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court.
In an unrelated matter, Harare Crime Prevention Unit arrested four suspects who were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in 34 Block Harare. Police members were on vehicle patrols when they stopped a suspicious silver Mercedes Benz. Upon searching the vehicle they found a 9mm pistol and ammunition hidden in the cabin hole. The serial number was filed off.
The suspects aged between 18 and 29 are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
Furthermore, members of the Public Order Police arrested a 36-year-old female for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Schiphol Street, The Hague, Delft. The members were busy with stop and search operations when the suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.
Once charged the suspect will appear in Bellville Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
