Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they’re South Africans looking to make a difference in the life of a hungry child.
South Africa has come together in a monumental way, swooping in and coming to the rescue of the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA), a non-profit organisation that helps to address hunger in young learners and students attending primary, secondary and special needs schools.
Not only do these school feeding schemes help to alleviate short term hunger, but it provides an incentive for kids to attend school, ensuring that more children across the Western Cape receive a solid education, an aspect that may help to break the cycle of poverty that has crippled South Africa.
Following the May Money Madness competition with Kfm 94.5, which raised around R700 000 for the organisation, more needed to be done to help the organisation.
PSFA needs R8 million to adequately feed around 14 736 children for a year, and many have sprung into action in order to reach this target.
The fundraising campaign started this morning and around R6 million has been donated so far with more donations quickly pouring in. Along with good samaritans looking to make a difference, big names have also jumped at the chance to help, including Hussar Grill and Bootlegger Coffee Company.
For every Rand raised during this incredible initiative, LottoStar will match.
If you’d love to show your support for this incredible organisation and everything it’s doing, donate here. As soon as the campaign has reached its target, the fundraising campaign will end, so make sure that you donate ASAP!
