Art has a way of binding people to places and each other and also has an innate way of inspiring those who love a good peruse through a gallery every now and again.
Zeitz MOCCA has been at the heart of Cape Town’s art scene, offering an opportunity for art lovers and inspiration hunters to get in touch with their arty sides.
And the Zeitz MOCCA Centre for Art Education is presenting something truly special – an exhibition of grade 12 learners’ work titled: “Walking the Peripheries.”
The exhibition is a culmination of a six-week-long project which began back in March 2022. The intensive workshop invited a select group of 10 learners from 11 schools across Cape Town and provided them with the opportunity to engage with a prominent star in the art world, Tracey Rose. The sessions were conducted alongside newly qualified art teachers and museum directors presenting an amazing opportunity for all involved.
At the core of Rose’s work, many gazers will find it confronts social, religious and political beliefs, and this was exactly what participants responded to when making artworks of their own.
Be inspired by Cape Town’s youth and enjoy a walk through the peripheries, currently exhibiting until 28 August 2022.
