Although the end of winter in South Africa is nowhere near in sight yet, some establishments are concluding their delicious winter specials earlier. Cavalli Estate in the prestigious Helderberg region of Stellenbosch will have their last Winter Special at their Cavalli Restaurant at the end of July.
Everything associated with the name Cavalli has an air of sophistication, the Wine Estate in Stellenbosch is clearly no exception. Born from the clash of art, food and wine, the restaurant is beautifully positioned with breath-taking views of the Helderberg Mountains. A spectacular seat from which to experience a taste of winter.
Winter Special
Until the end of July, foodies have the opportunity to experience a culinary delight with Cavalli’s three-course Winter Special. The special is available either as a lunch from Wednesdays to Saturdays, or as a dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.
What’s on the menu?
Before tucking into the three-course meal, diners can munch on a wide selection of snacks and breads. Tempura rapini, ginger, sesame, shiitake tartlet, smoked macadamia, roosterkoek, chedder, biltong, mieliebrood and sour cream will truly kick-start your appetite for the rest to come.
Next is a choice between three delicious starters: choose either tuna, kohlrabi, tarragon and apple; or mussels, bokkom, baby marrow and roasted red gem; or a vegetarian option of sunchoke, sunflower seeds and sultana vinaigrette.
The main affair will also allow diners an option between three scrumptious meals: the vegetarian option is gnocchi, miso, sea vegetables and hazelnut; and the two meat options are either sustainable fish, roe butter, buddha’s lemon and radish; or wagyu brisket, eggplant, umami hollandaise and horseradish.
Finish the night off with a light but tasty dessert: yoghurt, papaya, honey and lime; or baked custard, unripe banana, yeast and tahini ice cream are on the menu.
