You may have seen this familiar face in popular jazz spots around the Mother City like the Crypt, Jazz in the Native Yards & the CTICC. Thandeka Dladla is a singer and songwriter with influences from Anita baker and Letta Mbuli.
She is a superwoman who leads her own quintet in performances and has now become a part of various bands including The Unity Band who were due to perform at the 2020 Cape Town International Jazz Festival

Dladla is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT), and holds a degree in BMus Jazz Vocal Performance from the South African College of Music where she was under the tutelage of Nomfundo Xaluva and Amanda Tiffin.
However, the Cape Town born will grace the audience with her presence alongside her amazing band made-up of well-known musicians in the local jazz scene. As she sings her new Afro-soul songs this Friday 19 August at the Alliance Française du Cap from 7pm.
“Nouvelles Vibes, started in May this year, is a growing concept that seeks to discover new talent, innovative trends in all genres and offers performance opportunities for young musicians.”
Nouvelles Vibes has showcased diverse outfits such as the Qadasi and Maqinga Maskandi duo, Lo-Ghost, a cult-pop duo and Oceanico, a mixed cultural Brazilian and South African band who all played to a full-capacity audience.
