The South African Weather Service (SAWA) has issued a weather warning as a cold front continues from the country’s western parts towards the Eastern Cape. Damaging gale force (63 to 34km/hour) will be expected to interrupt activities on beachfronts, ports, and harbours in the Western Cape from today, 5 September to tomorrow afternoon and calms down during the evening of 6 September.
The Western Cape will be mostly cold with showers. Some “snowfall is expected over the Cape Winelands mountain peaks in the morning.”
The high-pressure system and strong winds are expected to result in the sea rising to 6m between Plettenberg Bay and Algoa Bay from the afternoon till evening.
