Water safety is a top priority for the National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI), which is why they are hosting the Survival Swimming Programme, proudly sponsored by the Friends of the Sea Point Pavilion.
“As we jump into Spring and the weather warms up, our time spent in and around water increases however, so does the risk of swimming incidents and drownings.”
Caville Abrahams, Western Cape Drowning Prevention Regional Team Leader, says these lessons are offered free of charge, and it’s never too late to start.
“Safety in and around the water is our number one concern in this program and primarily we aim at children, but people of all ages should have this skill too,” he adds.
Volunteers will help make this project become a reality and locals are encouraged to get involved. Visit the Sea Point Pavillion (at the forecourt next to the pools) on Saturday, 17 September from 9am to 12pm or email [email protected].
