Cape Town foodies, boy do we have some big news for you. The first Time Out Market in Africa will be building a home for itself right here in the Mother City.
And what better place to gather all of Cape Town’s finest in the culinary biz than at the historic V&A Waterfront? After all, the Waterfront is already home to two of our favourite gourmet hotspots, the V&A Food Market and Makers Landing so it should fit right in like the final piece of a very delicious puzzle.
For those new to the Foodie world, the iconic Time Out Market picks out the city’s best chefs, bartenders and cultural goings-on and gathers them all under one roof. The result? An ultimate tasting experience of the very best stuff that the city has to offer.
The first Time Out Market was created in Lisbon in 2014. It has since grown into a global phenomenon, opening Time Out Markets in New York, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Montreal and Dubai. Along with a few more of the coolest cities in the world, Cape Town is up next.
Take a look:
According to TimeOut, the new market is set to come to life in late 2023. It’ll be equipped with 14 kitchens, all run by different top Cape Town chefs, and four bars with drinks co-curated by the Mother City’s best bars. There’ll also be a stage for live performances.
And of course, in the spirit of ‘the more, the merrier’, there’ll be room for approximately 750 guests in total, including quayside tables with jaw-dropping views of our beloved Table Mountain.
