Sit the Folk Down’s intimate pop-up music events create an experience where people feel like they’ve witnessed something special. This Sunday, STFD presents Stelth Ulvang in a performance that showcases his multidisciplinary talents as a solo artist.

Sit the Folk Down was started as a project to reignite a passion for regional music and live music culture by bringing music to unique venues for local music fans to enjoy. Over the years, it has grown to become a trusted source for organising live entertainment, music management, studio needs and event needs.
The main goal of STFD’s pop-up music events is to arrange concerts in unusual settings so that attendees leave with the impression that they experienced something special. Over the years, it has collaborated with international acts like Stelth Ulvang (The Lumineers), Ian Fisher, Brett Newski and Blind Butcher, as well as hosted shows with some of South Africa’s top performers, including Robin Auld, Wendy Oldfield, Albert Frost, and Femi Koya.
Its next event will be held at Woodstock Brewery, and there will be live music performances that you won’t want to miss.
Stelth Ulvang is currently being dragged from town to town by the folk-rock band The Lumineers. Stelth’s main role in the band is as their pianist, but his multi-instrumental abilities as a performer and songwriter extend to his solo work.
Supporting Stelth is Cape Town-based singer-songwriter Jon Shaban.
Jon has released three full-length albums and has relentlessly toured both domestically and internationally with both his solo material and his band, The Shabs, since quitting his job and dedicating himself to music full-time in 2015. Jon has enthusiastically accepted the challenge and the experience that comes with it. His songs tell tales about this and how life on the road can teach any man about triumphs, failures, love, and an appreciation for the small and big things that happen.
The music-filled evening will kick off with the Cape Town-based band, The Misty Cliffs.
The Misty Cliffs are a trio of experienced musicians featuring Nick Turner (guitar and vocals), Nick Catto (bass and vocals), and Matt Catto (drums and percussion and vocals). The group has participated in a number of musical projects and played for audiences across the country.
