Golden Arrow Bus Service (GABS) has announced that fairs will increase by 6.95% on cash and multi-journey clipcards as of 27 December.
GABS Gold Cards will remain at R35.
Golden Arrow’s fee increment has been motivated by the recent hikes in fuel prices, specifically diesel.

Commuters have been given a grace period up until January 25, 2023, for 10-ride multi-journey products that are valid for 30 days after they are purchased on December 26, 2022.
48-ride multi-journey products bought on 26 December 2022 will be valid until 26 March 2023.
According to IOL, Golden Arrow has increased employee salaries, contributing to the increase.
“Golden Arrow has worked tirelessly to identify and increase efficiencies across our operations, and we will continue to focus on exploiting all cost-saving opportunities available to us.”
“We remain acutely aware that our passengers find themselves in the same difficult economic climate as we do.”
“We would therefore like to assure our passengers and stakeholders that this decision was not taken lightly and that the increased amount is significantly lower than what is required to actually offset cost increases,” GABS said in a statement.
