The organisation said in a statement that Ayşegül Kandaş, the Ambassador of Turkey to South Africa, has directly contacted them to help with relief efforts.
According to Gift of the Givers, its international teams have already evacuated children from a childcare centre in Gaziantep, Turkey, and their medical teams are responding to the quake in Darkoush, Syria, with full force.
The organisation said that dozens of dead and over a hundred injured arrived at their facilities shortly after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the two countries this morning.
