Western Cape High Court Judge Alan Maher has sentenced the man convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering 8-year-old Tazné van Wyk to nine life sentences.
Tazné’s kidnapping and murder on 7 February 2020, exposed the perpetrator’s long history of heinous rapes and assaults on his family and friends.

According to News24, Judge Alan Maher said the 57-year-old had “a heart of darkness” and was clearly beyond rehabilitation.
“The degree of moral turpitude displayed by the accused is extreme, disturbing, and difficult to comprehend,” Maher said.
The absconding parolee, who had a violent criminal history, was found guilty of 22 charges. The charges included the rape and impregnation of his own adult daughter.
