A hidden gem continues to shine just a couple of kilometres inland of Cape Town’s coastline. You just need to know where to look to behold the glow of a fine piece of motoring history that is still at the heart of racing culture in South Africa.

Killarney Racecourse, located in Milnerton, has been a name synonymous with the South African motoring industry since the first race was held there in 1947. Over the last 76 years, the course has grown in size and glory and the current facility offers a race track nearly four times the size of the original one.
The famous track plays host to a range of events, offering rally-cross circuits, a drag strip, a karting circuit, and an oval track. Aside from that, there’s a 4×4 training facility, a skid pad for advanced-driver training and a spinning pitch where many a set of wheels has been put to rest.
The range of motoring means at Killarney is awe-inspiring, but equally inspiring is the development of the course and its strong history at the heart of South African motoring.
