While the search for German tourist Nick Frischke has proven unsuccessful to date, the case against the five suspects who have confessed to robbing him on the day that he disappeared has been postponed for further investigation.

This comes after the accused, Igshaan Fisher, Jason Abrahams, Vanroy Petersen, Carlo Guenantin and Melvin Guenantin made a brief appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court yesterday on a charge of aggravated robbery and will remain in custody.
Guenantin, who was previously convicted of attempted murder, was released on parole last year.
However, according to Department of Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo, legislated procedures are under way to revoke this after Guenantin could not be located at his home, where he was expected to be, as per his parole conditions.
The frantic search for the 22-year-old has subsequently lost momentum after the authorities and volunteers combed the mountainside for weeks without success.
Police said searches would resume as new leads were received.
Frischke’s belongings are still at the Airbnb in Pinelands, where he was staying, after his host confirmed to the family that he had not returned that day.
This came after his parents checked in with her when their son had not made contact with them as he usually did.
He was seen on CCTV footage at the V&A Waterfront, wearing blue denim shorts, a beige T-shirt and sneakers, on the day of his disappearance and had travelled to Hout Bay using an e-hailing service for a planned hike.
There is no evidence of Frischke coming back down the mountain.
As per confirmation from a private investigator hired by the family, a reward of R20 000 has been announced in exchange for any information that can aid in the search for the missing person.
André Hallwas, Frischke’s father, has called on anyone with information to come forward.
