UPDATE:
According to Times Malta, 29-year-old Dr Stefano Corso was found unharmed on Thursday afternoon.
SAPS told the publication that ‘metro police will be bringing him to Maitland’.
Corso reportedly made contact with his family in Malta and with the police.
Sources in the Foreign Affairs Ministry also told the publication that ‘the Interpol Unity within the Malta police corps has just received a phone call from the lead investigator in Cape Town who confirmed that Dr Stefano Corso has been found and he’s okay’.
It is believed that a Maltese person accompanying the doctor in Cape Town made contact with the Maltese diplomatic services, reported Times Malta.

Maitland police are appealing to the public for help in finding a foreign doctor visiting South Africa from Malta who vanished on the sidelines of a medical seminar in Cape Town on Wednesday.
29-year-old Dr Stefano Corso was last seen stepping out of a seminar in Paarden Eiland to take a call at 3:35pm before leaving shortly after.

Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk said ‘he was not seen nor heard of since then’.
A missing person report was made by SAPS, as well as by Missing Children in South Africa.

According to MaltaToday, a spokesperson from the Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed that the Maltese police are already working with Interpol on the case, adding that the ministry is closely monitoring the situation.
Video footage obtained by the police shows him stepping out of the seminar in the industrial and shipping quarter but never returned. Attempts by his colleagues to reach him by phone have since been unsuccessful.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing beige pants, a white T-shirt and a black jacket.
