South Africa’s Bryoni Govender (26) has secured her place in the finals of the Miss Universe 2023 ‘Voice for Change’ Top 10.
The top 10 silver finalists were announced on Wednesday, 15 November during the 72nd Miss Universe preliminary competition in El Salvador. Contestants will now compete for the ‘Voice for Change’ gold.

‘Voice for Change’ is a global initiative collaborating with Mouawad, CI Talk, and the Miss Universe Organisation with the collective goal of shining a spotlight on the causes supported by this year’s contestants, providing a platform for positive change.
Selected by an esteemed panel along with public votes, the finalists are South Africa, Angola, Brazil, Chile, Lebanon, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.
The Miss Universe ‘Voice for Change’ is a social impact video contest that will see all 10 finalists submit impactful videos addressing a social issue or cause they are passionate about. The videos should align with at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Govender champions the ‘Her Way Out Campaign’, which focuses on advocating for women’s rights and partnering with Norton Rose Fulbright for access to justice projects. She is also an ambassador for Lawyers Against Abuse (LvA).
Winners will be announced during the Miss Universe final in El Salvador on Sunday, 19 November.
South Africans can vote for Govender through the official Miss Universe app. The final will air live on S3 (DStv 193) on 19 November at 3am with a repeat at 7:30pm on the same day.
