CDI’s Group CEO, Erica Elk, notes the transformative effect of supporting local creatives.
‘Every rand we spend has an enormous impact when it goes to a local small business; we have seen time and time again in our work that locals supporting local creatives keep the creative economy moving. Every consumer can make a difference, all through meaningful choices that benefit the local environment and communities,’ says Elk.
5 reasons to shop local:
- Heritage preservation: South African-made creative products are unique, embodying the nation’s rich heritage.
- Economic impact: Choosing local goods bolsters job creation and community support.
- Personalised gifting: Local crafts offer a deeper, more personal connection, aligning with conscious consumerism.
- Sustainable practises: Many local products are eco-friendly, reflecting a commitment to responsible sourcing and production.
- Conscious consumerism education: Promoting informed shopping choices and local purchases can shift consumer habits towards more mindful practises.
‘Through www.peek.org.za, we aim to redefine the joy of gift discovery while promoting conscious consumerism, sustainable practises and supporting local communities,’ concludes Elk.
