The Two Oceans Aquarium has done some pretty great things over the past few years, from their Plastic-Free July to a gallery opening on Youth Day. This time, they’re back with some good news to put a smile on our faces with their incredible ocean rescue.
A team of Two Oceans Aquarium members, consisting of staff, interns and volunteers, heard about a trapped sunfish near the aquarium and quickly got to work. Sunfish are one of the world’s heaviest bony fish and can weigh up to two tonnes. No wonder so many members were needed for the rescue.
The ocean rescue mission was a success, and the fish was released into the V&A Marina basin next to the Two Oceans Aquarium. We thank the staff, volunteers and interns for their great service and for keeping our oceans and precious wildlife safe.
