Time Out Market is a food and cultural experience that brings the best of the city together under one roof.
Time Out Market is a curated mix of 13 home-grown culinary concepts spanning many cultural influences and flavours. It’s going to be a celebration of award-winning and up-and-coming local talent, and guests will get a real taste of the city.
Earlier this week, Time Out revealed further additions to its all-star lineup, including Chef Peter Tempelhoff from FYN, which was recently named one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

He will partner with Chef Chin Takagi, of two-star Michelin restaurant, Zeniya, to offer authentic Japanese sushi.
Chefs Tempelhoff and Takagi, both esteemed members of the World Culinary Council for Relais & Châteaux, have nurtured a strong friendship through their culinary endeavours. A testament to their knowledge and skills, Tempelhoff and Takagi’s flagship restaurants – FYN and Zeniya, respectively – both further enjoy an admirable Relais & Châteaux membership.
The two came up with the Sushiya concept in the back of a taxi, discussing their love of sushi and the craft behind it, and right there decided to take the plunge and open a restaurant in Cape Town, which Time Out Market Cape Town is proud to be home to.
Chef Hitesh Panchal will introduce Indian street food with a contemporary twist to the market with Kapoochka.
However, it’s not just about food; there’s an exciting bar programme and cultural activities also on offer.
Not only will Time Out Market Cape Town showcase the city’s top chefs and much-loved restaurateurs, it will also boast local wines, beers, cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks across three bars, as well as art and cultural experiences from Capetonian and South African local talent.
The market is fully licensed, and the 13 food concepts are complemented by three bars offering premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages – keeping with its mission to bring the best of the city together under one roof, the curated beverage programme.
Cape Town’s cultural scene is as vibrant as its food scene, and Time Out Market Cape Town will offer a curated programme of cultural activations and events all year, including jazz evenings, comedy evenings and DJs, with more to come.
Across the market, guests will be able to enjoy art and installations from the Cape Town-based Zabalaza Art Faktory and ALFA, showcasing the true heart and vibrant nature of local creativity, with more art installations in the works.
