On Friday afternoon, police divers and the NSRI retrieved the body of a woman whose bakkie had plummeted into the sea below Voëlklip near Herolds Bay.
The incident comes shortly after the body of a 65-year-old man from Mossel Bay was retrieved from the same area a week ago, and it marks the seventh death at Voëlklip since January 2022.

A Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, told AfriNuus that search and rescue teams had been on the scene since 12.30pm, after onlookers at Herolds Bay’s controversial vantage point noticed the bakkie in the water.
According to Spies, the woman is believed to be from Groot-Brakrivier, and currently, no foul play is suspected.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
This incident marks the seventh death at Voëlklip since January 2022.
Since the road is on private property, there are no current plans to close it.
