A store robbery in Somerset West didn’t go as planned for six suspects.
Yesterday, at around 4 pm, police responded to the call of a business robbery of a shop in Main Road.
According to the SAPS, the complainant expressed that she was at the store assisting a customer when she heard screams from her colleague.
An unknown male armed with a firearm was spotted in the store, who later took her and two other colleagues to the control room. Six suspects in total were involved, according to the report.
The suspects took a large sum of cash as well as several cellphones before speeding off in a getaway vehicle.
Roughly 30 minutes later, the Khayelitsha police spotted the same getaway vehicle and were hot on the trail of a speed chase.
The suspect ran into a house in Samora Marcel Street where the police conducted an arrest.
No one was injured in the robbery which reports claim was a PEP store, and the suspects are set to appear in court on charges of business robbery and possession of stolen property once they’ve been charged.
