Mzukisi ‘Mzu’ Lembeni is no stranger to Cape Town’s tourism scene. With years of experience at the Two Oceans Aquarium, where he led school tours and managed the microscope exhibit, Mzu has cultivated expertise in the industry.
Backed by business mentorship from the Two Oceans Aquarium since 2014, he’s successfully branched out to become the proud owner of iMzu Tours.

His credentials don’t stop there. Mzu has gained hands-on experience working at various Cape Town hotels, the Castle of Good Hope and city sightseeing operations.
He’s a certified tour guide for both the Western and Eastern Cape and has completed programmes in tourism operation management at the University of South Africa and the College of Cape Town.
For Mzu, the aim is not just profit but empowerment.
‘My vision is to empower people, to create youth development projects and to create exciting opportunities to experience, enjoy and learn about the exquisite Mother City,’ Mzu told Laura du Toit of the Two Oceans Aquarium.

His philosophy? Turn your passion into your profession. This ethos has guided him in creating iMzu Tours, founded in 2012 as a way to showcase the townships and communities surrounding Cape Town.
iMzu Tours specialises in walking cultural tours through Langa Township, providing guests with the chance to interact with local business owners and residents. Tours are rich in storytelling, history and culture, covering various points of interest like community projects, local markets, schools and local bars known as shebeens.
A significant element of Mzu’s business model is his commitment to community building, job creation and the empowerment of local residents.
One satisfied customer had this to say: ‘Our township tour with Mzu was impressive and touching! He found the right words for us to experience this world respectfully.’
But Mzu’s vision extends beyond tourists. Recognising that many locals are unfamiliar with their own city, he’s pivoted towards educational tours designed for Cape Town’s youth.
‘My vision is to uplift the importance of tourism in our communities and invest in education for our children by doing school tours and career orientation with us. I am willing to share my experience with school learners and share my business skills with young entrepreneurs like me,’ he added.
So, whether you’re a visitor eager to learn about Cape Town’s multifaceted communities or a local seeking to rediscover your own city, iMzu Tours should be your go-to.
