The latest cold front has touched down in Cape town, drenching the city in glorious rain and bolstering dam levels even further. As wonderful as this deluge is, the hard downpour has caused chaos on many of the Cape’s roads – with drivers often losing their ability to drive in the rain.

A minibus taxi that jumped a red light at the intersection of London and Eersteriver ways has resulted in 14 people being injured due to the resulting accident.

“Three vehicles came from London way turned right onto Hindle and Eersriver direction Blue downs court,” Maxine Bezuidenhout, City of Cape Town Traffic Services spokesperson, said this morning.

The incident was reported at 8.20am this morning, in the peak of morning traffic.

“All necessary role players on scene. Multiple injuries waiting for further details from scene,” she added. “Further more with the impact of taxi jumping red light taxi overturned.”

Fourteen slight injuries were reported from the incident.
