The body of missing horse rider Meghan Cremer has been found, police confirmed on Thursday, August 8. Cremer went missing six days before her lifeless body was discovered, confirming the worst fears of many who had hoped she would make her way back home safely.
Police confirmed that her body was discovered in a sand mine on a Philippi farm in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Cremer was last seen leaving her home on Vaderlansche Rietvlei farm in Philippi on Saturday, August 3 at approximately 6.24pm, causing her family to hire a private investigator to track her down. Yesterday, her white Toyota Auris, with registration number CX29727, was reportedly spotted at a roadblock in Wynberg, and further sightings were later reported in Grassy Park.
Her brother, Paul Cremer, who worked with her at a Woodstock bakery, has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family deal with the financial strain of having had Pratten assist in finding her.
“On Saturday 3 August 2019 a 30-year-old female who resides on a farm in Philippi was reported as missing,” South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson FC Van Wyk said in a statement. “On the same evening at about 8 pm police arrested three male suspects ages 27, 34 and 35 for the illegal possession of presumably stolen motor vehicle. Investigation brought to light that the car indeed belonged to the 30-year-old female reported as missing to local police.”
According to Van Wyk, the three suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court later today. One of the suspects, the 27-year-old male will also be charged for murder.
