Over recent months there have been countless reports of business having to close their doors as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. To help put an end to this trend, SPAR in Palm Grove have come up with a truly heart warming gesture that will not only put a smile on your face, but hopefully money back in the pockets of struggling businesses.

As of May 3, 2020, SPAR in Palm Grove has made the decision to willingly close both its stationary and frozen burger sections. The reason as to why they have come to this decision is to help neighbouring stores survive the COVID-19 pandemic, with these sections closed other stores experience more demand for these items.

SPAR took to their Facebook page to explain why exactly they came to this decision.

This is truly a heartwarming gesture and proves that even in the worst of times, we as South Africans can come together and stand as one undivided nation.

Along with doing their part to help out local businesses, SPAR Group have partnered with GoodThingsGuy to launch a nationwide initiative through the ‘Backabuddy fund’.

According to GoodthingsGuy, “Not only are SPAR putting shopping carts outside their stores where you can donate, but they will also donate R1 for every #SPARdonate to the SPAR Lodestar foundation feeding scheme!!!”
