Police in Cape Town has launched a full investigation after three bodies were discovered in a canal in Sarepta, Kuils River on Thursday, September 16.
According to a police report, officers were called out at around 6am after people passing by spotted the bodies of two women and a man riddled with gunshot wounds in the water. Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said that several spent cartridges were discovered in the vicinity after police divers retrieved the bodies from the water.
“Police have instituted the 72-hour Activation Plan for the mobilisation of resources in search of the suspect/s and determining the motive for the murders. At this point of the investigation, the identities of the deceased persons remain unknown,” Potelwa said.
Potelwa has also urged anyone with information that could assist the police investigation to contact SAPS on 08600 10111 or convey information via My SAPS App as the information received will be handled in strict confidence.
The incident comes exactly four days after another decomposed body was retrieved from the canal that runs along the COVID-19 informal settlement in Driftsands. It’s believed that the body is that of one of the four missing youths who were allegedly victims of mob justice, IOL reported.
