As a self-proclaimed dog mom, I often find myself going completely overboard with gifts writes Cape {town} Etc’s Micayla Vellai. Treats? Check! Toys? Double check! The internet just has a way of luring you in, and just when you click the checkout button, another ad pops up, ready to convince you that this is the toy all dogs must have (and into the cart it goes).
And what’s a gift without a few trimmings right? So naturally, covering these gems with colourful Christmas-themed wrapping paper is a given, to add that element of surprise, you know. I can’t help but wonder how many people are out there, just like me, sitting in front of the Christmas tree and wrapping gifts for their fur-babies.
To take it a step further – family photos. Well, it’s a must if you’re looking to add some epic shots to Instagram – and 100 photos later, you find the perfect one. I love seeing my feed flooded with images of pets dressed up in bright reds, greens and whites (coupled with jingly headbands), because you might as well go all out, right?
While some might be cheering and unwrapping gifts at this very minute, others might share a different viewpoint of whether it’s ‘necessary’ to include pets in the festive celebration. So should pets also receive gifts on Christmas?
