The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday portrait series encapsulates a graceful vintage aesthetic, that anyone would be forgiven for thinking they were shot hundreds of years before.
Kate Middleton is allegedly 40 years old in the photographs, but she’s truly giving most 20 year-olds a run for our money – without overt makeup, eccentric plastic surgery or glam. It’s something we don’t see nearly enough of in the digital era – an emphasis on natural grace.
To mark her 40th birthday which was on January 9, Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi shot the series in London’s Kew Gardens in November of 2021.
If the gown caught your eye – you have elegant taste. It’s Alexander McQueen of course, who also designed her 2011 wedding gown.
The three portraits are set to display in locations across the United Kingdom with “special meaning” to the duchess. Further, they will find their home at the National Portrait Gallery – of which the Duchess is a patron.
