A 28-year-old man from Knysna has been arrested after allegedly murdering his 59-year-old mother and dumping her naked body in the bushes.
According to The Citizen, the woman’s body was found by a member of the community in a partially decomposed state, while residents reported that she was last seen at home on 7 January.
Police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said the suspect is scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder, and the motive of the killing is yet to be determined.
“The constant following up on information about the whereabouts of the wanted suspect resulted in his arrest late on Friday evening by members of the community, who handed him over to the investigation team,” Pojie said.
Experts searched both the house of the woman and the scene where her body was found for clues, and an autopsy has been conducted to determine the cause of death, News24 reports.
The public is urged to contact Knysna Saps on 044 302 6608 or Crime stop on 08600 10111 to assist with investigations.
