Firefighters have responded to a fire on the foot of the Dwarsberg Mountain outside Rawsonville in the Western Cape on Tuesday.
This incident follows a raging blaze that started on Saturday, 8 January in the mountain area of Kleinmond which destroyed more than 4 000 hectares of land.
According to Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services, various resources and ground teams have been deployed and are focusing activities on containing the fire.
The fire has spread into a small inaccessible kloof currently hidden by low cloud cover and light rain, and active fire fighting activities are reportedly set to continue for some time.
The fire is being fuelled by a combination of 15-year-old indigenous veld and a brisk north-westerly wind, the CWDM adds.
