When The Bachelor South Africa first debuted in 2019, South African women were enamoured with the former rugby player that flashed across their screens.
Lee Thompson was a self-described entrepreneur and SA’s first Bachelor contestant. Viewers couldn’t get enough of the sophisticated and devilishly handsome man that seemed to woo the 24 beautiful women that were all vying for his affection.
However, news media outlets have been reporting that Thompson is now living on the streets.
According to News24, it all began with an unfortunate incident at a Cape Town guesthouse. The owner reportedly told the publication that he had rented a room from her for R300/night, and when he left, the room looked like a “pigsty.”
The 33-year-old was reportedly a “tenant from hell” and was certainly not the gentleman with the rose we got to know and love.
“Clothes, rubbish, and empty drink bottles” cluttered the room, including condoms which were lying all over the bedroom floor. She later evicted him but reportedly had to call the police after he had once again made himself comfortable in her home.
However, he had left by the time the police arrived. According to an individual also living on the street who had contact with the former Sharks player, law enforcement officers had apparently picked him up and taken him to a homeless shelter.
Despite this, his Instagram page appears to be telling a different story. In a recent video posted to his page, the former Bachelor can be seen trying on different winter attire and looking as suave as always.
Whether the rumours are true or it’s just that – rumours – we wish him all of the best!
