On 20 September the Blue Downs Regional Court sentenced a 17-year-old to 68 years in prison. The boy was charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to the Sunday Times, in February 2021 the then 16-year-old shot a victim who was in his yard in the company of his friends in Petrus Street in Kraaifontein.
The teen was arrested and let out on bail where he carried out more shootings.
Western Cape police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala confirmed that in “July 2021, while out on bail, the teenager shot dead a rival gang member.”
He continued to shoot a woman, a nine-year-old girl and another victim.
