The 30-year-old deceased is the son of Ramaphosa’s security chief Major-General Wally Rhoode.
His body was discovered in Delft on 22 April.
In a statement from police yesterday, spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said the suspect, a Mozambican national, was taken in for questioning by the Serious and Violent Crimes detectives on Thursday following an extensive investigation.
‘In the past week, police offered a reward of R50 000 for any information that could lead to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the perpetrator/s of the murder of the deceased person.’
‘At the time of Rhoode’s disappearance he was driving a black VW Polo sedan, that is yet to be recovered.’
‘The motive for the murder is believed to be robbery with detectives still pursuing all other available leads,’ Potelwa said.
In an unrelated incident, high density integrated operations in Khayelitsha yielded success on Friday when two men were arrested for the possession of drugs.

‘The members followed up on the information and searched the premises. The members found 41 mandrax tablets, two large zip lock bags containing cocaine and a large quantity of crystal meth weighing approximately 250 gram in the house.’
The suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court today.
Meanwhile, police also arrested a 62-year-old man for the possession of dagga on Friday evening.
‘The members followed up on information of a person that is selling dagga in NY 53. During a search of the premises a black bag with dagga cigarettes and loose dagga were confiscated.’
