Alderman Theresa Uys, the mayoral committee member for corporate services, participated in the cleaning, decluttering and gardening efforts at the council’s headquarters.
Alderman Uys expressed her enthusiasm for this endeavour, emphasising the importance of staff taking pride in their workspaces and striving to ensure that all facilities maintain the dignified atmosphere they should offer to visiting residents.
She praised the spirited effort exhibited during the cleaning of the Kraaifontein Municipal Building and encouraged employees to approach their workspaces and facilities with the same zeal not only during this month but throughout the year.
The overarching goal is to consistently provide customers with clean, safe and welcoming facilities.
Recent improvements have been made to the Kraaifontein Subcouncil offices and public toilets, with ongoing refurbishments in the cash office area within the municipal building.
Additionally, the garden and landscaped areas are currently undergoing enhancements and progress has been made in restoring the fountain outside the building.
Alderman Uys elaborated on the Facilities Management staff’s focus, which includes cleaning and inspecting all City facility windows and air-conditioning units and applying a fresh coat of paint to various buildings.
This spring cleaning initiative is an integral part of the City’s Visible Improvement Programme (VIP), dedicated to enhancing municipal buildings throughout Cape Town.
The programme is set to address various aspects, from waiting areas and cashier tellers to front gardens and landscaping, all with the primary objective of improving customer service centres.
