Update:
The City’s Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson, Edward Bosch, reports that the Simon’s Town/Glencairn mountain slope fire has been controlled.
Shortly after 9am this morning, the City’s Fire and Rescue Services received reports of a fire on the mountain slopes near Seemeeu Road in Simon’s Town.
The first responders encountered active flames in the upper areas of Glencairn Ridge.

Currently, ‘Working on Fire’ and Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) crews are engaging the fire line and two City helicopters are conducting water bombing operations in the area.
Additionally, two private helicopters have joined the aerial assault, deployed at the request of the landowner.
In a preventive measure, six City firefighting teams are stationed along the urban edges of Glencairn Ridge, ready to act if the fire approaches the firebreak.
