In January 2018, Don and Yvonne Cormack from Harlow, Essex, were stabbed while hiking near Silvermine. Don, then 71, sustained nine stab wounds and Yvonne was injured while defending him.
This past Sunday, the Cormacks, now 77 and 73, returned to Cape Town’s trails to join local hikers in fighting against the recent spate of crime.
As per the Cape Argus, more than 20 incidents have been reported in Table Mountain National Parks (TMNP) in recent months. The issue of safety in TMNP has been under scrutiny following these crimes.

In a recent incident, TMNP Rangers arrested a suspect linked to a robbery and attempted rape at Lion’s Head. The suspect, a 23-year-old, faces charges of robbery with a knife and attempted rape.
