Law enforcement officers attempted to pull over the driver of a bronze Toyota Avanza, but the driver refused to stop initially.
After a brief pursuit, the driver eventually stopped and three occupants fled the vehicle, opening fire on the officers.
During the exchange of gunfire, one officer was struck in the hip, but miraculously, the bullet was stopped by his belt, leaving him with only a bruise.
Following the shootout, officers discovered that the remaining people in the vehicle were actually victims of a hijacking, adding a layer of complexity to the situation.
The suspects managed to escape on foot, prompting efforts to track them down and bring them to justice.
Alderman JP Smith, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, commended the law enforcement officers for their bravery and quick thinking.
